POKEMON
THE ADVENTURES OF ASH, MISTY, AND BROCK

In our last chapter you can recall that our heroes were mistaken for a
Dugtrio and stranded on a island, only to be rescued by a pirate ship led by
Kakunas and Metapods.  The overwhelming kindness led Ash to believe
something was up, but how would he convince his friends?
The night sky fell and they needed their sleep.  A Kakuna showed them to
their quarters and were left alone.  The room was small with one bunk bed
and another single bed.  In the corner, bolted to the floor, was a night stand
for belongings.
“I got the top bunk bed!!”
“And I got the single,” yelled Brock.
“Aww noo!  I got the lower bunk bed under Misty!  Come on, Brock, switch
with me,” cried Ash.
“No way.  I like being free and not enclosed in the bunk.”
“Oh biscuits!”  So Misty slept on the upper bunk, Ash slept on the lower
bunk, and Brock slept on the single bed.  Ash had trouble sleeping because
something inside bothered him but he couldn’t put his finger on it.   Soon
everyone was asleep, and during the middle of the night Pikachu woke up to
soothe a snack attack.  He got out of his sleeping bag on the floor and walked
out into the hallway to seek the beloved kitchen.
He couldn’t find the kitchen on the side of the ship they were on, so he
walked up on deck to go to the other quarters and rooms.  After going into the
cabin below he found the kitchen.  It was stocked with his favorite foods,
apples and ketchup.  He grabbed as many ketchup packets as possible and
slipped them into his yellow pockets.  He also took an apple to put the
ketchup on.  Pikachu was now totally satisfied so he left the lower cabin up to
the main deck.  While on his way back to his room he saw some pirates
talking in a low tone and opening a secret door on the floor right next to the
steering wheel of the ship.  Inside the hole were tens of hundreds of
pokeballs!
Pikachu knew that these Metapods and Kakunas were defiantly not trainers,
but he needed to find out for sure.  He snuck close towards the pirates and
tip-toed to a pile of boxes right next to them.  This is what he heard.
“Ha!  They know nothing of our devious plan!  Har, Har, Har!!”
“Yes, my sea-mate friend, but how long do you think we’ll be able to hold
up this deception?”
“The captain said we would have to until we reach the Cinnabar docks and
sell these land lovers to the Slave Runners.  We’ll also take their pokemon
and add them to our collection to sell at the market.”
As this conversation unraveled, Pikachu was frightened that he might be
caught, so he left and ran down to his room and hid in his sleeping bag for the
rest of the night, eating nothing

In the morning everyone woke up early to eat a good hearty breakfast.  As
they walked to the kitchen, all the memories of the night before ran through
Pikachu’s head and he knew he had to tell Ash.
“Pika, Pika, Pika, Pikachu!  Pika, Pikachu, Pika!”
“What’s that, Pikachu?  What are trying to tell us?”  Ash patted Pikachu’s
head and continued to walk on.  A near-by Metapod heard the pika cries.
Pokemon can understand each other, so he knew that danger was around the
corner.  He informed the captain and he prepared for battle in case the
Pikachu succeeded.
During a breakfast of waffles and vegetables, Pikachu held a broccoli stem
and a corn kernel and tugged at Ash’s shirt.
  “Pika, Pika, Pika, Pikachu!”
“Hey,” suggested Misty,” those look like Kakunas and Metapods!”
“Pikachu!”  He played with them in a manner of discussion and devious
planning.
“Hey, do mean that the pirates are plotting against us?”
“Pika, Pikachu!”  Now that he had told them, he would show them
evidence!  He and the three skeptics ran out to the ship’s wheel and showed
them the secret compartment filled with the goods.
“Whoa,” cried Brock.  “Look at all those pokeballs!  Pikachu was right!
Let’s get out of here.”
“Wait, we should save these pokemon from being sold,” reminded Misty
So they gathered all the pokeballs and put them in their bags.  By now the
pirate crew was at arms and ready to pulverize our friends.  Each pirate had a
wooden sword, held by forces unknown, ready to swing.
Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu ran to the life raft.  At the same time all the
pirates busted out of the cabins with evil intentions.  A pack of them jumped
in front of the raft and Ash ran right into them.  He was smashed and hit but
managed to escape.  There was only one thing left to do.

  “I chose you!”
  “Pokeball, Go!!”
  “Go Onix!”
Total mayhem broke loose and it was every pirate for themselves when
Ash, Misty, and Brock released all their pokemon in a battle of crazy frenzy.
Pirates leaped for their lives and abandoned ship.  Just then Ash had an idea!
“How about we let the captured pokemon loose, too, so they can escape?”
“Yea!”  So more than fifty pokemon were running amok on one deck of a
ship and soon the four found their chance for escape.
They leaped into the raft and led it slowly to the water below.  They also
called all their pokemon back and returned them to their pokeballs as they
jumped over their heads towards them.  All the other pokemon would ride the
boat to some land and be freed.
So our three travelers and a extraordinary yellow hero are now safe on a raft
paddling to Cinnabar Island for supplies and a ride home.  Will they find
something worth looking into on their next stop?  Will Pikachu learn that
walking gains him more credit than riding on Ash’s hat?  And will our friends
get to the island at all?  All your questions will be answered in the next
yellow chapter of Pokemon!
